BJP's Raosaheb Danve announced that the party has finalised its choice for Maharashtra's next chief minister, with confirmation pending from the central leadership.

Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former union minister Raosaheb Danve said the party has finalised the name of the Maharashtra chief ministerial face and it is awaiting approval from the party’s senior leadership. Danve said everyone knows who the next CM will be and it will be formally announced once the party’s senior leadership approves.

An NCP spokesperson said the party already elected Ajit Pawar as the CLP leader and he would be the party's first choice for the deputy chief minister's post.

The oath-taking ceremony of the new Maharashtra cabinet has been announced by the BJP, but there's no word yet on who will occupy the Chief Minister's post. The ceremony will take place at 5 pm on December 5 at Mumbai's iconic Azad Maidan.

NCP Chief Ajit Pawar confirmed the decision for the BJP to lead Maharashtra's government, while the Mahayuti alliance faces delays. As caretaker CM Eknath Shinde deals with health issues, the oath-taking ceremony is set for December 5 with Prime Minister Modi in attendance.

The BJP has also confirmed that the new Mahayuti government will be formally sworn in on December 5, 2024, at Azad Maidan in Mumbai, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to attend the event.
