For Chase Strangio, the professional path that’s led to this moment – in which he’ll have 15 minutes to present an argument defending gender-affirming care for trans youth before the Supreme Court – cannot be unwoven from his life outside the courtroom.

ACLU trans attorney Chase Strangio defended trans surgeries for minors in an interview with CNN host Jake Tapper on Tuesday. Strangio will be defending transgender surgeries in the state of Tennessee in front of the Supreme Court.

Next week, our guest Chase Strangio will make history as the first openly transgender lawyer to argue before the Supreme Court. Strangio will argue on behalf of the American Civil Liberties Union’s LGBTQ & HIV Project that Tennessee’s state ban on gender-affirming hormone therapies for transgender children is a form of sex discrimination.
