P resident Donald Trump is reportedly finalizing an Executive Order that would attempt to dismantle the Department of Education, which would fulfill a campaign promise as he seeks to shrink the size of the federal government.

The Trump administration and its backers have suggested the department has evolved into a weapon wielded by progressives to enforce “woke” education policies and is a waste of taxpayer dollars. Trump has mused about allocating the department’s funding to the states.

In a staffwide meeting Wednesday, leaders of the Education Department told employees the Trump administration’s resignation offer comes with major caveats.
