AMRITSAR – Former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal has begun serving the religious punishment imposed by the Akal Takht, the highest temporal body of Sikhs, for his role in a sacrilege case.

A man opened fire at Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal at the entrance of Golden Temple, Amritsar on Wednesday. Badal, who was sitting in a wheelchair,, was performing the duty of 'sewadar' when he was attacked. He escaped unhurt as the bullet hit a wall.

A former terrorist fired a shot at former Punjab Deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal outside the Golden Temple in Amritsar. A policeman overpowered the attacker before he could hit Badal, who was performing 'sewa' due to a fractured leg.

Amritsar: Akali Dal leader Bikram Majithia on Wednesday condemned the attack on Sukhbir Singh Badal after a man opened fire at him but was stopped by an alert police official inside the Golden Temple.

Harsimrat Kaur Badal- Shiromani Akali Dal MP and wife of Sukhbir Singh Badal arrived at Golden Temple, Amritsar. Bullets were fired at the Golden Temple in Amritsar where SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal was offering 'seva'.

Bullets were fired on Dec 4 at Golden Temple premises in Amritsar where Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leaders, including party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, are offering 'seva' under the religious punishments pronounced for them by Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal was shot at by Narain Singh Chaura outside the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Badal, who was in a wheelchair, escaped unhurt as the bullet missed and hit a wall.

Sukhbir Singh Badal was serving as a guard outside the temple entrance as part of a religious punishment. Badal has been reported safe.
