Russia says it shot down more than 120 drones overnight, in what would be one of the largest attacks of the war.

Ukraine said it had struck a Russian oil refinery and a microchip factory in a huge drone attack that caused fires at the refinery's production facilities and an oil pumping station.

Ukraine drones hit an oil refinery east of Moscow in a mass attack on Russia, according to military sources. The oil plant in Ryazan, 120 miles south east of the capital, was targeted, as was a microelectronics production plant in Bryansk, western Russia, according to Ukraine’s military.

Ukrainian drones struck various targets within Russia. Videos emerged online from locations such as Ryazan, where a refinery was targeted. People gathered nearby were initially admiring the effects, but the strike led to an explosion that caused a panicked rush among the onlookers.

Ukraine launched one its biggest assaults on the Russian mainland today, with drones leaving an oil refinery ablaze.
