PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia 76ers have gotten off to a miserable start to the 2024-25 season. They are sitting at 3-13 and are ahead of only the Washington Wizards in the Eastern Conference standings. Not exactly what many expected when considering Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey are on the roster.

It does not require a rocket scientist to conclude that the Sixers' 3-13 start to the season has been horrific in every sense of the word. Writer John Schuhmann paints a harrowing picture of the hole the team has created for itself:

For the 76ers, the focus is playing hard, playing together and staying together off the court. The hope is, by doing those things, they will snap out of their rut. The Sixers take the NBA’s second-worst 3-13 record into Wednesday night’s game against the Houston Rockets at the Wells Fargo Center.

The official word from the Sixers was that Embiid (left knee injury management), George (left knee bone bruise) and Kyle Lowry (right hip strain) would all remain out for the team’s matchup Wednesday night vs. the Rockets. However, George partially participated in practice and said he’s aiming to return to action “within the next week.”

The Sixers' All-Star trio of Joel Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey have played just over 6 minutes together this season.

Sixers' Joel Embiid and Paul George are out on Wednesday night vs. the Rockets. It will be their third straight game missed.
