A fast hit of light snow is expected to move across the St. Louis area Monday morning and early afternoon. It isn’t a major storm but will bring snow during the morning commute, which could lead to trouble.

The National Weather Service in St. Louis expects less than an inch of snow, but it could stick to cold roads and untreated surfaces.

The St. Louis region's first fall snow is in the books. Snowfall was steady for much of Saturday, and some parts of the region saw several inches of snow.

While only a dusting to an inch of snow is expected for some, the timing during the Monday morning commute could cause some problems.

ST. LOUIS – The final day of November brings this fall’s first snow to the St. Louis region. Most, if not all, counties in the Greater St. Louis metropolitan area should expect anywhere from half an inch to possibly as many as three inches on Saturday. Snow began around 7 a.m. and is projected to gradually keep falling until 6 p.m. Saturday.

The season’s first snow caused a flurry of traffic crashes across the St. Louis area. Police, firefighters and medical services responded to multiple crashes after snow started falling Saturday morning.

Roads, especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous, the National Weather Service says, as 2-4 inches of snow is forecast.

The first wave of snow should start to arrive sometime after 7 AM on Saturday morning. I believe that at some point during the morning, this snow will hit a layer of dry air at the surface. It will be tough for the initial round of snow to actually make it to the ground, especially with any fanfare.
