With rumors swirling of a possible reunion between the Houston Astros and Alex Bregman, Dana Brown characterized the talks with the free agent third baseman as the door being cracked, while still calling it a “long shot.

If Bregman is back in Houston, team sources indicated he would play third base in place of Isaac Paredes, whom the Astros acquired as part of the three-player package for Tucker. In that scenario, both Paredes and Altuve could face a position change.

Bregman, who has played his entire nine-year career with the Astros, hit .260 with a .768 OPS, 26 home runs and 75 RBIs and won his first Gold Glove at the hot corner in 2024.

Bregman coming back at this point would be a bit awkward because Houston has clearly conducted its offseason under the assumption that he was leaving.
