Houston mayor John Whitmire and Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo both warned that the conditions will worse before they get better.

Despite a rare winter storm bringing snow to the area, road closures and even H-E-B shortening its hours, some Houston restaurants and bars plan to open Tuesday. It’s still business as usual for many eating-and-drinking establishments across the city cooking up everything from steaming bowls of soup to comforting barbecue.

HOUSTON – Tuesday was a long day for us at KPRC 2 as we covered the 2025 winter storm. We were honored to be able to be with you, the viewer, the entire time. After Monday night’s 10 p.m. newscast, we were on every half hour with updates and our reporters headed out as early as 2 a.m. Tuesday morning.
