Dexter’s storyline in the OG show left him hiding out as a lumberjack after his stepsister, Debra (Jennifer Carpenter), was killed off. But in “New Blood,” it was implied that his life had ended, so they decided to opt for another spinoff instead.

“Dexter: Original Sin” is, as the title says, the origin story of blood splatter expert and serial killer Dexter Morgan. Clyde Phillips, the showrunner on the first series, is again directing this 10-part series.

Harry Morgan is Dexter’s father, played by James Remar in the original series, and in this series, played by Christian Slater. The actor is a legend, starring in films like “Heathers,” “True Romance,” “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” and several TV series (most notably his Golden Globe nominated role in “Mr. Robot”).
