The Rangers returned to full strength in Saturday’s 4-3 win. Filip Chytil played for the first time since colliding with K’Andre Miller on Nov. 14.

Peter Laviolette confirmed that both Filip Chytil and Chris Kreider will return from their respective upper-body injuries on Saturday afternoon to take on the Montreal Canadiens. Chytil collided with K’Andre Miller in a game on Nov.

Just two minutes into the game, the Rangers captain dropped the gloves with Montreal’s Josh Anderson in a heated bout that echoed the growing frustrations around the team and Trouba in particular.

The Rangers fixed their start. They couldn’t execute a perfect ending, but they got it close enough to give the dressing room, and perhaps management, an exhale-worthy win against Montreal. Their losing streak — which felt even more dire after word leaked that Chris Drury reached out to teams about making trades and mentioned Chris Kreider and Jacob Trouba by name — is over at five games.

There is still fight in New York. It’s been a whirlwind of a week for the Rangers, who had descended into a state of unrest amid a five-game losing streak that set off a siren throughout the organization.
