LOS ANGELES (AP) — Cooper Kupp was a driving force when the Los Angeles Rams won the Super Bowl to cap the 2021 season, culminating with his winning touchdown catch.

The McVay and Whitworth families donated $400,000 to two organizations, the LAFD Foundation and the Pasadena Community Foundation. Inspired by this, Cooper Kupp pledged to match up to $500,000 for each organization to raise an additional $1M in relief funding.

After being eliminated from the NFL playoffs by the Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Rams star Cooper Kupp spoke about his future with the franchise.

Kupp, 31, is going into the second year of a three-year, $80.1 million contract. The Rams can try to lower his $29.7 million cap hit in 2025 with an extension. A trade or post-June 1 cut are the only ways they can move on without incurring more dead money than they would save.

In trading down from No. 35 to No. 43, the Cardinals accumulated picks but missed out on five players who instantly became impact pieces — T’Vondre Sweat, Braden Fiske, Cooper DeJean, Kool-Aid McKinstry and Kamari Lassiter. Three of those players were named to the PFWA All-Rookie first team.

The play: Jalen Reagor, the Chargers wide receiver, was wide open on a busted coverage. A few yards outside the end zone, cornerback Starling Thomas V caught up to Reagor from behind and forced the ball free. Safety Jalen Thompson recovered the ball in the end zone for the touchback.

Rams head coach Sean McVay, wide receiver Cooper Kupp and former offensive lineman Andrew Whitworth and their families are uniting to donate to wildfire relief in Los Angeles.

Kupp was referring to the Rams’ conversations about him with other teams ahead of this season’s trade deadline. The 31-year-old receiver and former triple crown winner has been with the franchise his entire career after they drafted him in the third round in 2017.
