The governor has declared January as FAFSA Action Month, and efforts are being made to ensure every student gets the financial aid they need to further their education. As wildfires continue burning in and around Los Angeles, the new mayor of Scottsdale is pushing for additional efforts to prevent fires in the East Valley city.

A La Niña winter just started, but it isn't expected to last long. National forecasters are already looking ahead to the spring season.

Forecast maps from the National Weather Service (NWS) Weather Prediction Center indicate that as of 6 p.m. Wednesday, most of New Mexico, as well as parts of Texas, Colorado and Arizona, had some probability of more than an inch of snowfall accumulating.

The NOAA Gulfstream IV features a GPS dropwindsonde, a tube-shaped instrument released from the bottom of the aircraft. This instrument captures various environmental parameters during flight and is equipped with several sensors, measure pressure, temperature, humidity, and GPS Doppler frequency shifts as it descends to earth.
