WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (WFLA) — Gov. Ron DeSantis will be speaking in Winter Haven on Wednesday morning at the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. The governor will be joined by Polk Sheriff Grady Judd, Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey, Attorney General Ashley Moody, and the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Director Dave Kerner.
The Polk Sheriff's Office will continue to hold undocumented suspects for collection by ICE agents, Sheriff Grady Judd said.

DeSantis’s office released a list of proposals for Florida lawmakers including the repeal of in-state tuition for “illegal immigrant” college students. “We have to put Floridians first,” DeSantis said. On Monday, DeSantis called for a special Florida legislative session on Jan. 27 to support the new president’s immigration policy.
The governor was joined by Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd and other agency leaders in Winter Haven to discuss those proposals.
The annual meeting is an opportunity for citizens to address the delegation before the legislative session. But speaking spots fill up fast.
