Packed with strong winds and heavy rainfall, Cyclone Fengal is affecting the livelihood of people living along the coastal line of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, and Puducherry.

A relief operation led by the Indian Army and NDRF also began in the morning, with over 100 individuals being evacuated in the first two hours.

Cyclone Fengal is expected to make landfall on Saturday evening and IMD officials said that the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu would be most affected.

After the landfall, the Cyclone is forecasted to move west-southwestwards and gradually weaken into a deep depression within the next six hours.

The cyclonic storm has progressed towards Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts and is making landfall near Puducherry, an IMD official said. A red alert has been issued for 10 districts of Tamil Nadu.
