In the eighth game of the World Chess Championship, D Gukesh and Ding Liren ended in a draw. Both players have four points each, with 3.5 points remaining to claim the title.

For vast portions of game 7 on Tuesday, the challenger D Gukesh, playing with white pieces, held the upper hand. But Ding Liren, as he has done in some of the previous games, held on and salvaged a draw.
