Nick Suzuki scored the overtime winner and added an assist as the Montreal Canadiens edged the visiting New York Islanders 2-1 on Tuesday night.

The Islanders caught a break when Maxim Tsyplakov was initially whistled for a four-minute high-sticking penalty on defenseman Kaiden Guhle at 19:42 of the third period, which would halve bled into overtime. But, upon review, the referees reversed the call.

Nick Suzuki scored 44 seconds into overtime and the Montreal Canadiens beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-3 on Wednesday night, snapping a two-game skid. Juraj Slafkovsky had a goal and an assist, Cole Caufield added a power-play goal and Emil Heineman also scored.

Laine, playing his first regular-season game in nearly a year, opened the scoring on the power play 7:23 into the second period.

The Canadiens lost 3-2 to the Utah Hockey Club in overtime on Tuesday. The Blue Jackets played their third straight game past regulation; they defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 7-6 in overtime on Nov. 21, then won 5-4 in a shootout against the Carolina Hurricanes on Nov. 23.
