It's National Plan for Vacation Day, which coincides with some of the darkest, coldest days of winter. To help travelers observe – and possibly boost their moods – United Airlines is running a promotion that offers bonus frequent flyer miles to travelers who book flights to select international destinations.

Nearly 40 people were injured, with six seriously injured, when a Boeing aircraft operated by United Airlines suddenly plunged in mid-air, forcing the fight to make an emergency landing.

A United Airlines flight bound for Puerto Rico made an emergency landing at Newark Liberty International Airport on Saturday morning, according to the FAA. The flight returned to Newark around 10 a.m.

Six people were injured on a flight from Nigeria to Virginia. The airline also saw a series technical issues in March.

Six people were taken to hospital with injuries but have been discharged, United Airlines said.

An American Airlines jet with 60 passengers and four crew members aboard has collided with an Army helicopter while coming in for a landing at Ronald Reagan National Airport near Washington and multiple people were killed.
