Snow, freezing rain and rain are underway in the southern Plains as a potent winter storm strengthens Thursday.

The winter storm is producing a mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain over parts of many southern states, as depicted in the radar snapshot below. Up to 12 inches of snow has already fallen in parts of the Texas Panhandle,

Parts of North and Central Texas brace for another winter storm this week. The Dallas-Fort Worth area can expect snow, ice and dangerous conditions.

Winter storm warnings and freeze warnings are in place across 15 states due to freezing temperatures, snowfall, and hazardous road conditions. The NWS warned “most of North Texas” could expect “heavy mixed precipitation” including snow and sleet until noon on Friday.
